Harvest for All benefits hungry Georgians

Georgia Farm Bureau is collecting staple food items for the hungry in its 4th Annual Harvest for All Campaign.

The goal is for each county Farm Bureau to collect at least five grocery bags of non-perishable staple food items and donate two cents per county Farm Bureau member. County Farm Bureaus will collect food and money donations until Nov. 9.

“In the past three years Georgia Farm Bureau has donated nearly forty-five thousand pounds of staple foods through our Harvest for All Campaign,” GFB President Zippy Duvall said.

“We’ve learned our staple food donations are needed, but we’ve also learned that giving a monetary donation will allow the food banks to purchase more food using their collective buying power.”

The food and money donations will be distributed to a network of food banks across the state. The top ten staple food items requested by the food banks are peanut butter, cereal, canned meat, rice, dried beans or peas, macaroni & cheese, boxed pizza, Hamburger Helper®, soup, and canned vegetables.

Contact your county Farm Bureau office to make a donation or for more information.
