Georgia Neighbors celebrates 10th Anniversary -- This issue marks the 10th year that Georgia Farm Bureau has published Georgia Neighbors. We started this magazine for our membership’s enjoyment with the idea of featuring people and places of interest in Georgia while providing helpful information through our insurance, legislative, mortgage and timber columns as a reminder of the benefits that Farm Bureau membership provides.

Hopefully, you’ve learned some new facts about Georgia agriculture by working the activities featured on the Kid’s Korner page and discovered new ways to enjoy your favorite Georgia commodities using the Something’s Cooking recipes.
During the past decade we’ve traveled to the four corners of the state and down many back roads to unearth stories we thought you’d enjoy, but there’s lots of ground left to cover and interesting people to meet. We look forward to continuing our journey across the state as we meet more of our Georgia neighbors.

Georgia Farm Bureau holds 67th Annual Meeting -- GFB members from across the state gathered on Jekyll Island for the organization’s annual convention, Dec. 4-6. Georgia gubernatorial candidates Gov. Sonny Perdue and Secretary of State Cathy Cox addressed the convention and voiced their appreciation and commitment to Georgia farmers.

Georgia pianist to play Carnegie Hall -- On Feb. 5, a lifelong dream will come true for concert pianist Christopher Smith when he plays his debut concert at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. Smith’s concert has sold out and could be the start of an international career. Smith also entertains at GFB Conventions.

Georgia Christmas tree growers donate trees for troops -- The Georgia Christmas Tree Growers Association did such a good job helping Santa bring holiday cheer to the troops and military families at Fort Benning that we had to prolong the season just a little longer to share their story with you.
