After the first round of elimination, Athens-Clarke County and Griffin remain in consideration to become the new homes of the USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).

The USDA received expressions of interest from 136 locations in 35 states. On March 12 Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the 67 sites remaining after the first round of elimination. USDA is following a rigorous site selection process to identify the new locations with involvement from USDA, ERS, and NIFA leadership.
