YOUNG FARMER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
We're excited to announce the dates for Georgia Farm Bureau's 2017 Young Farmer Leadership Conference and Discussion Meet competition!
This year's conference will take place July 19 - 22, 2017 at Jekyll Island, Georgia. This great event is open to Farm Bureau members, between the ages of 18 and 35, and their families.
The GFB Young Farmer Committee hosts this family-friendly event to present educational, networking and social opportunities to our younger members, as well as to help build a new foundation of ag leaders for our organization.
All qualified applications in the Achievement Award and Excellence in Agriculture Award will be judged in the district competition. District winners and the three finalists and the State Winner will be announced in July at the Young Farmer Leadership Conference. Applicants in the Excellence in Agriculture Award should be prepared to take part in a 20 minute interview during the Leadership Conference. Only the Top 3 applicants will be subject to this interview process. The Top 3 applicants in the Achievement Award will be subject to an on-farm interview. These dates will be announced to finalists in early June, and on-farm judging will take place in late June.
All four rounds of the Discussion Meet will be held at the Young Farmer Leadership Conference this year, including the Final 4. This is a process that the Young Farmer Committee feels will continue to enhance the competition and better prepare contestants for the national competition.
The state winner in all three competitive events will be announced at the Young Farmer Leadership
Conference. The winner of each competition will receive an expense paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention in Nashville, TN in January 2018, to compete for national honors.
We'd love to see our Young Farmer members from across the state at the GFB Leadership Conference in July. It's a very popular event, so be sure to register as soon as possible.
