Samantha Lineberger, volunteer, policyholder and farmer

"Some advice that I would give a young person when looking for insurance is to find a company that aligns with their values. For me, that was Farm Bureau because I'm truly invested and involved in the ag industry, and even if you're not invested in the ag industry, you have to eat every day. You need shelter and you need clothes... Farm Bureau gives back to the community, but they also support the farmers and the people that are keeping us fed and clothed."

Samantha Lineberger: Advocating for Agriculture, Powered by Farm Bureau

When Samatha Lineberger needed car insurance and home insurance for the first time, she shopped around.

"Of course being a newlywed, price was a big point for me. Farm Bureau had the best price point, but also I was born and raised in Farm Bureau," she said. "I'm a big agriculture girl, being born and raised on a farm. Having an insurance company that supported something that I was very passionate about was also very helpful in choosing which insurance company I wanted to go with."

In addition to being a business owner and a farmer, Samantha is an active advocate for the agriculture industry. She volunteers through Georgia Farm Bureau's Young Farmer and Ranchers program, where she helps young farmers network with other farmers and develop skills that will help them educate consumers as well as leaders who have influence over policies that impact the farm. The average age of farmers in Georgia is around 60 years old, and Samantha feels that Georgia Farm Bureau plays an important role in helping the next generation get involved.

"With each generation, we get further and further away from the farm. And being that far removed, people aren't going to know where their food comes from."

Samantha has also been active through Georgia Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom program, which aims to provide resources and curriculum to teachers and parents so they can help children understand where their food comes from and what it takes to feed the country.

She also invites people out to her farm so they can experience it herself. She is part of Georgia Farm Bureau's Certified Farm Market program, which is a network of farms in Georgia that allow consumers to come out to the farm and buy products grown directly from that farm, and in some cases even meet the farmer who grew it.

"Having those elementary school kids come out and see agriculture firsthand, it truly is amazing to see the light bulb click," she said of farm visits.

This past April, Samantha joined the Young Farmers and Ranchers group on a trip to Washington, DC where they had the opportunity to speak to senators and other leaders on the national level.

"Being that voice, not only for myself but for other farmers in Georgia, truly was something that is hard for me to describe. You never think that you're going to be able to be the voice for everybody and talk on that level. Georgia Farm Bureau gave me that opportunity and it was a blessing."

Even beyond having the tools to make a direct impact on her community on behalf of the agriculture industry, Samantha appreciates the leadership development opportunities she has had through the Georgia Farm Bureau organization.

"Being involved with Farm Bureau for the past few years has truly helped my business personally skyrocket, but it's also given me the ability to be comfortable in my skin, to speak out and advocate for an industry that I've loved and that has taken care of me my whole life, and will continue to take care of me and my family," she said. "Being a small business owner, I know the value in community and how important it is to stay involved and give back to your community. Farm Bureau gives back to the community, and that's one of the reasons I chose Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance is because they do support and give back to the local community. They're in the community and that hits home for me."
