Hunters for the Hungry provides outlet for harvested deer
Posted on Oct 07, 2026 at 15:29 PM
Georgia farmers and landowners who are managing deer populations on their property have an opportunity to turn their harvested deer into a valuable resource for those struggling to find access to food.
Hunters for the Hungry (HFTH) gives hunters, farmers, and landowners an opportunity to turn those wildlife management efforts into something that directly benefits their local communities. Through HFTH’s statewide network of participating processors, donated deer are processed and distributed to local food banks and hunger relief organizations across Georgia, providing nutritious protein to families in need.
Last season, more than 140,000 pounds of venison were donated through the program, providing the equivalent of more than 500,000 meals for Georgians facing food insecurity. It’s a meaningful way for landowners to support responsible wildlife management while also helping neighbors in their own communities.
HFTH also has freezer trailers that can be placed on-site for landowners or hunters to use, providing a convenient option for storing donated deer right on their property until they can be transported to a participating processor.
