Whitney Mooney named director of GFB Information/Public Relations Department

MACON, Ga.  – Whitney Mooney is the new Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Federation Information/Public Relations director, Georgia Farm Bureau President Tom McCall announced Nov. 5.  Mooney assumes the role vacated after Kenny Burgamy retired from the position.

“Whitney has a proven track record of creating advertising campaigns that have earned national awards and increased Georgians’ awareness of our organization,” GFB President McCall said. “We look forward to seeing what she will do as she leads our Information and Public Relations Department in the years to come.”

Prior to her promotion, Mooney served as associate director of the department since December 2021. In that role, she was responsible for shaping communication strategies to amplify GFB’s mission of serving Georgia farmers and increasing awareness of the GFB Mutual Insurance Company. Mooney first joined GFB in March 2018 as the department’s media buyer and was promoted to brand marketing manager in December 2021.

As associate director and brand marketing manager, she led GFB’s Marketing Team in developing diverse multi-platform content for the Georgia Neighbors, the Farm Monitor, GFB and GFB Insurance Company websites and GFB social media accounts. She led her team in developing statewide marketing campaigns for GFB that include: “We Never Drop the Ball,” “We Are All Farm Bureau,” and “Insurance You Can Feel Good About.”

Mooney also led efforts to launch GFB’s first mascot, Lucky, and developed GFB’s annual Georgia Farm Dog Contest.

Prior to joining GFB, Mooney was the marketing director at Piedmont Orthopedic Complex in Macon. She previously held a variety of marketing and journalism jobs. A native of Statesboro, Mooney graduated from the University of Georgia Grady School of Journalism in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree and a certificate from the school’s New Media Institute Certificate.

Mooney and her husband, Yancey, have two school-aged children – a son and a daughter. Yancey is the chief perfusionist at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center in Macon. Mooney was a member of the 2019 Leadership Macon class and is a past president of the Macon Junior League. She has served on numerous boards and committees through church and her children’s schools.
