Georgia beef producers have voted to continue the Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission (ACC) for Beef Marketing Order for an additional three years, extending it through 2029, the Georgia Department of Agriculture announced on July 24.

Under the renewed marketing order, the assessment will remain at $1 per head on all beef cattle sold in Georgia with a value of over $100. The three-year renewal was approved by an affirmative vote of 82% of all ballots received and will become effective upon notification to the applicable producers.

The ACC for Beef collects these funds to be used for critical areas affecting beef production in Georgia. Since the beef assessment began 13 years ago, more than $4 million dollars has been committed to research projects, in-state education, and promotions which positively impact Georgia’s beef producers.

Marketing orders are reviewed and voted on by producers every three years to ensure continued support for the commission’s mission and programs.
