UGA Tifton enrollment approaches 2,500 students

Dr. Timothy Grey, UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (CAES) assistant dean and director of the UGA Tifton Campus, welcomed GFB members to Tifton and gave an overview of both the CAES as a whole and the Tifton campus’ offerings and statistics.
A total of 2,460 students are enrolled in the CAES across its three campuses, including 603 incoming undergraduates.
“This is a big increase for us in terms of undergraduates coming in. This includes freshmen and transfer students who are coming to the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences,” Grey said, who noted that incoming undergraduates have been awarded more than $750,000 worth of scholarships, including merit-based scholarships, experiential learning and congressional fellowships for students in Washington, D.C.
The UGA Tifton Campus employs more than 600 people, has 11 research farms and manages 5,600 acres of cropland, pasture and timber. It has 150 graduate students.
UGA Tifton has undergraduate programs in agribusiness, agricultural education, agriscience and environmental systems and biological science. UGA Tifton offers master’s degree programs in agricultural and environmental education, plant protection and pest management, and a dual degree program in partnership with the University of Padova in Italy; traditional MS and PhD programs and postdoctoral scholars.
