Homemade Peanut Butter

It's no surprise that peanuts pack a whole lot of nutrition, and we have a whole lot of peanuts in Georgia. In fact, did you know that Georgia, commonly referred to as the peach state, actually produces almost half of all peanuts in the United States? That makes Georgia the number one peanut producing state in the nation! That's a lot of peanuts and we're proud to call them our official state crop. 

It takes about 145 days for peanuts to grow. Peanut harvesting starts in September and continues through October in Georgia. Even though it takes about 540 peanuts to make a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter, this recipe only calls for two cups of roasted peanuts. 

Ingredients 

2 cups roasted peanuts 

2 teaspoons peanut oil 

Pinch of salt 

Directions 

1. Combine the peanuts, salt and the peanut oil in a food processor, blend until smooth. 

2. Store unused portions in refrigerator.
