Do you have a special farm dog that herds or guards your livestock? Maybe it keeps you company as you do your daily chores and provides stress relief. Maybe it has done something heroic.
Georgia Farm Bureau is accepting entries for its 2026 Georgia Farm Dog Contest until 10:59 p.m. on May 1 or until 200 entries are accepted. Contest is open to GFB members ages 18 and over. The grand prize winner will receive a $500 gift card and be recognized at the 2026 Sunbelt Ag Expo in October.
For complete contest information and to enter your dog, visit www.gfb.ag/26farmdogcontest .
GFB is known for its love of dogs as Lucky, an Australian Shepherd, has served as the organization’s mascot since 2021. The 2024 winner of GFB’s first Georgia Farm Dog Contest was Belue, a Shetland Sheepdog from Americus, Ga. Belue works sheep and cattle for his owner, Brinson Brock, and attends the middle school agricultural classes that Brock teaches to encourage students’ interest in veterinary science. The 2025 winner was Rooster, an Australian Shepherd from Eatonton, Ga. Rooster works dairy and beef cattle and sheep with his owner, Shawn Ruff.
